R&B: Ryan and Beilin

We're two admissions counselors at Washington College. One of us is an alum (Beilin), and the other one is regretful that he is not (Ryan). Follow us on our adventures during our first year in admissions! Feel free to ask questions about WC, Chestertown, college life, or admissions in general.

This past weekend, we had our Admitted Students Day - a special day just for the awesome people who have been accepted to Washington College! We had a record-breaking 700+ visitors on campus, which is about half of our student body. Prospective students and their families got to see WACapella perform, sit in information sessions to learn about different departments, take a tour of campus, a tour of downtown Chestertown, eat brunch in the dining hall, attend student/parent Q&A’s, meet Gus the Goose, and just mingle with fellow WC enthusiasts! Also, our VP wanted to take an Ellen Degeneres style selfie with our guests:

Best of all, we had 16 students commit on the spot that day! To you lucky 16, welcome to the family and get ready for the best four years of your life.

So we’re heading to a Panera in Towson, MD today along with 7 of our awesome colleagues to do off-campus interviews! We are pretty excited beause:

1. We are completely booked up for every time slots. That means we get to spread Washington College love to A LOT of prospective students!

2. We get to sit in a Panera and eat delicious food for like 6 hours…WHAT ELSE COULD BE BETTER?!

If you are coming tonight, we can’t wait to meet you! If not, check out our website to see if we will be doing off-campus interviews in your area soon.

Hi there! I’m one half of the Ryan and Beilin dream team. I studied psychology at Washington College and, as you may have already guessed, I loved it so much that I now work in the admissions office. My territories include Carroll County, Maryland and central Pennsylvania. Not only can I answer all of your questions about admissions but I can tell you all about what it’s like to be a student at WC! And just for fun, here are 10 random facts about me:

  • I’m super interested in tornadoes and just extreme weather in general. I have no idea why…
  • My favorite color is grey.
  • My current favorite TV show is The Walking Dead. I’m pretty sad that I have to live without it until February….that mid-season finale though!! WHOA!
  • I’m awful at math but a total grammar/usage/spelling nut
  • My psychology thesis was on birth order (first born, middle child, only child, etc.) and I have gotten pretty good at guessing peoples’ birth order just based on their personalities.
  • I absolutely love watching documentaries.
  • In high school I was voted “most likely to be a pro athlete” and by “athlete” they meant cheerleader. Obviously it didn’t come to fruition and I am okay with that.
  • I’m slightly addicted to Pinterest. No shame.
  • Christmas is definitely my favorite holiday because I love wintertime, snow, Christmas music, decorations, and just the general atmosphere of getting together by a fire and giving each other gifts!
  • I was born in Texas but raised in Maryland and I honestly don’t think I could live anywhere else.

This is our office! If you look carefully enough into the windows of the 3rd floor, you can see Ryan and I reading application upon application….
